Consultation & Advocacy Services
Learning disabilities, neurodivergence, & navigating school-based supports
My training and early career experience in school psychology led me to gain a deep understanding of learning and development, including how school-based support systems, such as section 504 & special education, operate. As a School Psychologist, I conducted psychoeducational assessments, wrote reports, provided individual and group counseling for students 3 to 21, ran multidisciplinary team meetings, and created impactful targeted interventions. At the systems-level I offered support by conducting professional development sessions for educators and had the opportunity to co-author a report for the Colorado Department of Education exploring different state-based initiatives sponsored through federal grants to bolster multi-tiered systems of support (MTSS) and equity in schools. Nowadays, I offer consultative services with individualized support by preparing targeted home-based intervention plans and being a parent advocate.
parent advocacy
Parent advocacy includes attending school-based meetings to explain evaluation results, services being recommended, advocate for the most appropriate services & placements, act as an educator in the process, and be a support system. Examples of meetings typically attended include: special education/section 504 initials & reevaluations, IEPs, reentry, & manifestation determination. to thoroughly explain evaluation results and advocate for the most appropriate services and placements.
targeted intervention design
This service includes creating a targeted home-based intervention plan designed to help you support your child’s specific behavioral or academic need. As a team, we will create and implement this plan, monitor progress, and adjust as needed to meet our intervention goals.
